Sustainability
We are committed producing sustainable, eco-friendly spirits that preserve Mallorca's natural beauty and give back to the island.
We are inspired by Mallorca's Mediterranean beauty, nature and heritage and that's why we are constantly working to reduce our impact on the environment and to give back to the island.
Since founding Mallorca Distillery, we have been working on significant initiatives to ensure that our impact on the environment is minimised while making the maximum positive contribution to this beautiful island we call home. We work with local organic farmers located throughout the island, to source the highest quality, organic botanicals. We use fully recyclable glass and sustainable packaging, and we are constantly exploring new ways to further reduce our environmental impact.
We are very excited to announce our solar panel installation this year which is bringing us closer than ever to our goal of becoming a zero emission company by 2024. Not only will we sustain our own energy consumption, but also give back clean energy to the Island for others to use.
We are proud of the progress we have made so far, and we are committed to continuing our work to make Mallorca Distillery a leader in sustainable, environmentally friendly spirit production.
Local Producers
We work closely with small farmers throughout the island who provide us with locally foraged organic botanicals evoking the sensations and fragrance of Mallorca.
Tony and Susana
The northern portion of Mallorca is graced with the Tramuntana Mountain, a unique natural wonder. It is home to Tony and Susana, knowledgeable local farmers who have been working in the region for more than 40 years. They cultivate with extreme care and attention to produce six of our local botanicals, including local juniper, oranges, orange leaves, lemons, limes and lavender, which combine to bring the true flavor of Mallorca to our spirits.
The Gamundi family
The Gamundi family has owned the beautiful Son Penyaflor estate for more than three generations. Once a year, in their picturesque land, we visit to hand-pick the almond flowers just before spring when the trees are at the end of their bloom. Almond flowers are an essential botanical in the creation of Palma Gin and impart a delicate sweetness that gives the spirit its unique flavor.
Ses Salines
A charming farm located near Ses Salines, a coastal town in the south of Mallorca, grows our certified organic tomato branches. They have been working for over ten years to grow high quality, selective and diverse tomatoes on their fertile land. We are proud to be able to use what would normally be a waste product and sustainably source the tomato branches which is one of our key botanicals in the production of Palma Gin and what gives its truly unique earthy flavor.
Packaging
We strive to source, develop, and use packaging solutions with minimal environmental impact and footprint.
Sustainable Packaging
Our glass bottles preserve the quality of its contents and are infinitely recyclable. The labels of our spirits are sustainably printed onto our bottles using 100% organic ink and all the production steps from distilling to bottling and shipping is done locally at our distillery to minimize our footprint.
Green Energy
We are making a major commitment to sustainability by installing solar panels in our distillery.
Solar Panels
Mallorca is blessed with a generous 300 days of sunshine each year, making it a great place for us to use solar power. Our goal is to become a zero-emission company by 2024, and the solar energy will not only meet our own energy needs, but also give back clean energy to the Island for others to benefit from.
